Regis University Student Government Association (RUSGA) is the organization that encompasses all students in Regis College and aims to provide programming and activities as well as leadership for the betterment of student life. The association is made up of all clubs and organizations on campus, appointed directors, student government, and student body officers elected by Regis College students. RUSGA was created in the spirit of empowering students to take the lead in creating programming and organizations that are of the most interest to them. The leadership of RUSGA, headed by the three elected officers, works (with student input) to ensure that campus life at Regis is beneficial as a place of residence and a place of study and leisure.
All traditional undergraduate students at Regis are members of RUSGA. We work together to make the best of our college experience.
THREE BRANCHES:
EXECUTIVE BRANCH:
The Executive Cabinet is one of the three arms of Student Government. It is made up of three elected officials and 10 appointed committee directors. Executive Cabinet has the privilege of representing the needs of the student body at large. This includes the coordination of activities for students to attend, as well as representing the student body at Board of Trustees meetings and other meetings with administration.
LEGISLATIVE BRANCH:
The RUSGA Senate is the legislative branch of the Student Government Association. It works with the Executive and Judicial branches to provide a positive college experience for the students of Regis. It is an organized body through which the wishes and ideas of the students can be formulated, recognized, and pursued. The Senate allows the students to influence the policies that govern their activities. All clubs and organizations wishing to be recognized by Regis operate under the oversight of Senate. Under the guidance of of the Vice-President, Senate works to foster relationships between the students and administration, faculty and staff, and to encourage a sense of community within Regis.
JUDICIAL BRANCH:
The RUSGA Judicial Board guarantees students the right to due process in discipline proceedings. It allows students who are accused of breaking university policy to appeal before their peers. The J-Board also makes sure that the Executive and Legislative branches are adhering to the RUSGA constitution. The Chief Justice moderates election debates, and certifies all RUSGA elections.
