Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Happy Wednesday Rangers,
Ahhh, the weekly events drill to keep you in the know:

Announcements:
Romero House
Application for Romero House are available in the UM office starting
on Friday, Feb 17th. Stop by the office with any questions.

Surveys
There’s a good chance that one of two surveys are out there sitting
in your e-mail box.  (Hopefully you’re not going to have both of
them.)  They are:

Survey #1:  Noel Leviz.  (This survey came from Stephanie Prochazka.)
You can win one of several $50 gift cards to Amazon.com.  Look for it
in your e-mail box.  Your feedback will provide Regis with insights
about the aspects of your experience which are MOST important to you
as well as how satisfied you are with them. Ultimately your responses
will help the leadership determine what is working and what is not
working at this institution - from the most important perspective of
all - our students.

Survey #2:  NSSE: The National Survey of Student Engagement.
Freshmen and Seniors - tell us about your college experiences. Are
you engaged?  (And nope, we’re not nosing around your personal lives
- we want to see if you’re involved - in campus!)   Your responses to
the 2012 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) will provide
important information for improving student success at Regis. Now
through April 2012, watch for an e-mail containing your login
information sent by NSSE, or have it sent to you by visiting
https://www.nssesurvey.org/login.cfm.

Events!!  (And we’ve got a lot of things going on - so there’s going
to be a lot of scrolling on a smart phone to get through them all.)

Wednesday - Tonight!
Matt Buelt will be performing tonight at The Colorado Solo Artist
Awards!  Do you like live music and awesome concerts full of funky
tunes? Come see some of Denver’s best rising local talent including
Bill McKay keyboardist of the famous Denver bluegrass band Leftover
Salmon!  The show is tonight at 8pm at Cervantes Ballroom 2635 Welton
Street Denver, Colorado.   Student Activities has purchased ten
tickets for the show - drop by the office and pick one up.

Thursday
Meet the Industry Night: Edward Jones
Edward Jones Ranks No. 2 on FORTUNE Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to
Work For 2010” List.  Meet a representative from Edward Jones and
find out why they were voted one of the top companies to work for in
2010.  Find out more about their company and the opportunities
available to you.  Wouldn’t we all want to work for the top company
in 2010?
RSVP to careers@regis.edu.  Loyola Hall, room 2.  5pm to 6pm.

Conscious Capitalism! Finding Meaningful Purpose in Business.
Derek Scarth, Managing Partner of Inspire Capital Partners and Board
Member of the John J. Sullivan Endowed Chair for Free Enterprise at
Regis University will be presenting about the concept of Conscious
Capitalism.  Main Hall 333, 6pm to 8pm.

A Conversation with Grace Stiles.
Grace Stiles is the founder of Stiles African American Heritage
Center in Denver.  She will share her experiences as an educator and
curator of an exciting visual learning tool to experience African
American history.  Come hear the fascinating story of how her dream
became a reality and a landmark in Denver’s historic Five Points
neighborhood.  6pm, Dayton Memorial Library by the Fireplace.
Sponsored by the Diversity Office and BSA in honor of Black History
Month.

Thrills
Spring Break Bingo!  Prizes, prizes, prizes!  $500 gift card to
Southwest Airlines for the Spring Break of your dreams (as long as
you’re not going to Tahiti), $250 in Nuggets tickets, and a ton of
other gift cards to get you out and about Denver.  (We would’ve done
this last week - but there’s a number of guys on campus that would’ve
won a Cheesecake Factory gift card and used it for Valentine’s Day
and trust me, that’s not cool.)  Check out the video at RUConnected.
Main Café, 10pm.  Brought to you by RUSGA/PAC.

Friday
Free Friday Movie!  The poll is up and running on RUConnected.

Geeks Who (usually) Drink
The New Friday’s 4 series at Walkers Pub opens with Denver’s
favorite trivia contest “Geeks Who Drink”.  It may be trivia, but
it’s not trivial.  Isn’t it about time that knowledge you impress
people with on a regular basis starts paying off?  Great prizes and
we’ll have floats and popcorn.

Poetry Club Open Mic Night
Do you have great new (or polished) material?  Poetry, Slam poetry or
your favorite musical medium all welcome here.  7pm, Walkers Pub

Saturday
Do you think that you are the BEST FIFA player at Regis?!? Walkers
Pub is sponsoring a FIFA 12 (xbox 360) tournament from 1pm - 4pm. It
is free to everyone, and any skill level is encouraged to come.
Winner will receive a $15 gift card to Chipotle, and second place
will receive a $10 gift card to Chipotle. If anyone has an XBOX 360
and controllers that they could lend to the pub for this event,
please contact Jake at Brant607@regis.edu.

Sunday
Swing Dance Club Organizational Meeting!
8:45pm in the Chapel Basement.  Questions?  Contact Hannah Jones or
Mandy Fillipi.

And, of course, “Chuck Norris knows Victoria’s secret.”

Have a great week!

In His Service and Yours,
Dave Law
Director of Student Activities
